Global Air Cylinder Wheels

“This Startup Reinvented the Wheel”

Automobile Parts

Company Information

Imagine never having to replace your tires. Global Air Cylinder Wheels (GACW) is making it possible.

This company is introducing an eco-friendly, cost-efficient alternative to the rubber tire. Its patented Air Suspension Wheel is an airless, mechanical wheel constructed primarily of steel, and features in-wheel suspension.

This tire can last up to twenty years. It’s durable, heat-resistant, and can carry up to a forty-percent higher payload capacity than traditional tires. It also can help drivers save on fuel costs.

The inspiration for this new tire came from the multi-trillion-dollar mining industry — GACW’s initial target market.

A single large mining truck can incur more than seven million dollars’ worth of tire replacement costs over its lifetime. Off-the-road tires often last less than a year under heavy use, creating a cycle of constant replacement, downtime, and risk.

This may seem like a small problem. But at scale, a mining operation with a fleet of 150 vehicles and more than 900 off-the-road tires to purchase costs $750 million over that fleet’s lifetime.

Beyond direct costs, rubber tires introduce operational challenges like punctures, overheating, and explosive failures. These challenges lead to shut downs that reduce productivity and put tire filters in grave danger.

This is why GACW’s new tire can be so effective. Unlike rubber tires, this company’s can eliminate blowouts and overheating, support heavier payloads, and require minimal maintenance. This potentially eliminates the wheel-explosion risk on site and reduces production shutdowns.

Once established in the mining market, GACW has its sights set on the $262 billion global tire industry. Potential applications include construction, medical (wheelchairs), automotive, transportation, military, and even bicycles.

After nine years of focused research & development, GACW has reached a key inflection point with a transition toward commercial deployment.

The company has raised about four million dollars to date, primarily used for the construction and delivery of tire prototypes. It’s also received about six million dollars in purchase orders, which it intends to finalized upon launch.

GACW’s business model is designed for scalability. Revenue is generated through distributor and manufacturing licenses with existing supplier contractors. The company also earns recurring royalties and sales of proprietary subcomponents.

GACW has been issued more than seventy-five patents and has another 120 patents pending. Its tire was recognized as one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023.

The company recently completed the final round of pre-operational testing and now has the data to finalize its operational-ready model. Projected release is for later this year.
