There are more than a trillion electronic devices in use today. And each one comes with its own cord, charger, or battery to manage.

But what if these cords and chargers weren’t necessary? That’s what a startup called Etherdyne Technologies envisions.

It’s created Wire-Free Power technology that changes how the world powers its devices. Instead of forcing you to use charging stations or plug in a device, Wire-Free Power creates a unique power zone in which any electronic device can charge simply by being placed.

Imagine setting up this power zone at your desk. Without plugging anything in, your laptop would charge. So would your smartphone, and your earbuds. Even the smartwatch on your wrist would charge while you’re in the zone. Curious how it works?

Using low-frequency magnetic resonance, Etherdyne’s technology delivers up to 100 watts to devices within a power zone the size of a desk or even a room. Devices equipped with the company’s power receivers simply enter the zone and convert the magnetic energy into electricity to power themselves or charge their batteries.

This technology was developed by Etherdyne’s co-founders who met while earning their Ph.D.s in Physics at Stanford University. Building on the one co-founder’s earlier work at MIT, they reinvented the magnetic resonance technology that makes larger power zones possible. Today, they’re joined by a leadership team with experience at Apple, Fitbit, Samsung, Nokia, Motorola, and HP.

The global market for wireless-power solutions is massive, projected to reach $172 billion by 2032.

To target this market, Etherdyne is pursuing an innovation-platform model, enabling global-product manufacturers and solution companies to integrate Wire-Free Power into their own products. This approach enables the startup to scale through partnerships, enter multiple verticals simultaneously, and maintain capital efficiency.

Etherdyne has showcased its technology on YouTube, where fan comments include “coolest thing I’ve seen on YouTube,” “indistinguishable from magic,” and “10 years ahead of its time.” The company has signed partnerships, solutions in design, and products shipping.
